Horse Racing
Horse racing is an equestrian sport which has been practiced over the centuries; the chariot races of Roman times are an early example, as is the contest of the steeds of the god Odin and the giant Hrungnir in Norse mythology. Horse racing is an exciting sport that owes much of its popularity to the betting that often accompanies it. Horse racing is referred to as the Sport of Kings but it can be enjoyed by everyone.
In the United Kingdom thoroughbred horse racing is governed by the Horseracing Regulatory Authority (the HRA) which makes and enforces the rules, issues licences or permits to trainers and jockeys, and runs the races through their race course officials. The beauty of horse racing is that there is gambling action 365 days of the year because this is a truly global sport.
